ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival in Arusha

Upon arrival at the airport, you'll be welcomed by our professional representative and experienced driver-guide, who will escort you to your accommodation in Arusha. This day is for relaxation and preparation before your photography safari begins. If the weather permits, enjoy your first photo opportunities with views of Mount Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro.

Consider optional activities in Arusha to enhance your experience. Options include canoeing on Lake Duluti, city tours, yoga classes, coffee tours, walking tours, and horseback riding, each providing unique photographic opportunities (additional charges apply). This relaxed day ensures you’re ready to capture the incredible sights ahead.

Arusha is known as the safari capital of Tanzania's Northern Safari Circuit.

Day 2: Tarangire National Park

Your day begins early at 7:30 am when your driver-guide picks you up from your hotel, setting out towards Tarangire National Park. Famous for its high density of elephants and iconic baobab trees, Tarangire offers unparalleled wildlife viewing opportunities, especially during the dry season. You'll enjoy a picnic lunch in the heart of the park.

Spend the day on a game drive exploring the diverse habitats that come alive around the Tarangire River, the park's lifeline during the dry months. This river draws thousands of animals, making it an excellent spot for photographers aiming to capture elephants, giraffes, lions, antelopes, zebras, and more in their natural environment. You'll also have the chance to see wildebeest, gazelles, cheetahs, leopards, and the elusive kudu, oryx, and gerenuk.

Day 3: Lake Manayara National Park

Start early with a morning game drive, an optimal time to see animals actively grazing on the Savannah plains. Enjoy this lively and picturesque scene before heading to Lake Manyara National Park. Known for its tree-climbing lions and the flocks of flamingos along the lakeshore, Lake Manyara offers unique wildlife viewing opportunities in a stunning setting.

Despite its modest size of 205 square miles, Lake Manyara is celebrated for its breathtaking beauty and lush acacia forest filled with giant fig and mahogany trees, home to troops of baboons and blue monkeys. The park’s namesake lake, a shallow alkaline body of water, expands and contracts with the seasons and supports thousands of flamingos during the rainy periods.

Besides its famous lions and flamingos, the park also hosts giraffes, elephants, impalas, and hippos. For those interested in capturing the more elusive nocturnal wildlife, a night game drive in Lake Manyara is highly recommended, providing a rare opportunity to photograph these secretive creatures in their natural habitat.

Day 4: Ndutu Southern Serengeti Plains

Start your day with breakfast before heading to Ndutu, nestled between the northern Ngorongoro Conservation Area and the southern plains of the Serengeti. Known for its year-round wildlife, including elephants, giraffes, big cats, and more, Ndutu offers a unique safari experience.

The area is celebrated for its nutrient-rich short grass plains, essential during the calving season from December to March when thousands of newborns bring the landscape to life. Ndutu's diverse habitats—from marshlands and acacia woodlands to soda lakes and expansive plains—support a vibrant mix of wildlife and are ideal for bird watching.

Day 5&6: Serengeti National Park

Dedicate these days to exploring Serengeti National Park, renowned for its vast populations of lions and leopards. Keep an eye out for the Serengeti "Kopjes"—massive boulders of granite that provide shelter to a wide variety of flora and fauna amidst the expansive grasslands.

Spend your time in the central region known as Seronera, often called "the big cat capital of Africa." This area is one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park, centered around the Seronera River, a crucial water source for the region's animals. Seronera offers year-round game viewing opportunities and boasts a great diversity of resident wildlife. Here, you're likely to see elephants, giraffes, impalas, waterbucks, hippos, reedbucks, buffaloes, and baboons, which remain in the area even outside the spectacular wildebeest migration season.

For an unforgettable aerial perspective, consider adding an early morning balloon safari. Floating above the Serengeti at dawn, you'll capture breathtaking photos of the wildlife and landscapes from an entirely unique vantage point.

Day 7: Ngorongoro Crater

Day 8: Ngorongoro Crater

Begin your final day with breakfast before descending into the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage site renowned for its prehistoric formation and thriving ecosystem. This natural amphitheater is home to over 25,000 animals, making it one of the best spots in Africa to view the "Big Five" (rhino, elephant, buffalo, lion, and leopard) in their natural habitat.

As you explore the vast grasslands and acacia forests of the crater floor, keep an eye out for the endangered black rhinos, a rare and special sighting as they graze in the open plains. The crater is also known for its significant hippo population, which can be seen enjoying the cool waters of the area's water bodies. Other wildlife includes wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, and an impressive array of over 500 bird species.

After a day filled with unforgettable wildlife encounters, you will leave the crater and return to Arusha. From there, you will be transferred to the airport for your departure home or an optional extension to Zanzibar, carrying memories of a lifetime from the heart of Tanzania.
